Top Myths About Aries

It’s funny to think that there are so many misconceptions out there about Aries.  I mean, they’re so straightforward, they’ll give it to you straight.  Maybe, though – just maybe – not all of us want to hear it so straight?  Anyway, let’s take a look at some of these common stereotypes:

Myth: Aries is self-centered

Reality:  Ares isn’t so much self-centered as they are excitement-centered.  They can’t stand being trapped in the same reality all the time, so, to cope, they take themselves from reality to reality, situation to situation, whether physically or mentally.  For most people (e.g. people who are not independently wealthy), this can mean a great focus on placing themselves in different everyday situations.  For people not so easily adaptable, this can come across as self-absorption, which – to a certain extent – it is; however, it doesn’t come from the place most people might assume.

Myth: Aries can be an asshole

Reality: This plays off of the first myth, above, but also brings in the sparkling Aries sense of humor.  Aries are HILARIOUS.  You don’t think so?  Then you’re almost definitely a sign that can’t stand being made fun of (read: Cancer, Leo, Scorpio).  These people toss of jokes as easily as they breathe, and don’t mean to go for the jugular – sometimes, though, the jugular gets nicked in their whirl of sarcasm.  Don’t take it too hard – they can take it right back.

Myth: Aries has a temper

Reality: Aries has a temper.  But hey, don’t worry – this isn’t a temper in the traditional sense.  Think about fire (this is the first fire sign, after all) – it spits and crackles and then goes back to just flaming along.  Aries just has to let off a little excess energy once in a while, that’s all.  Five minutes later, they usually don’t remember what it was that had them so worked up.

Myth: Aries is bossy

Reality: Aries knows what works for them – what excites them, what keeps them going – and they just don’t see how other people haven’t discovered that yet!  An Aries friend once told me that she honestly thought the world would be a better place if everybody let her make their decisions.  And you know what?  I sort of believed her.

Myth: Aries is independent

Reality: Aries isn’t just independent.  Aries is so independent they won’t order the same thing as anybody else if you’re all out at dinner together – they find it distasteful.  But Aries can be just as faithful as the next sign if you find a way to keep them excited, to be side-by-side adventurers rather than co-dependent.
